Kamakhya Temple
The Kamakhya Temple, dedicated to Devi Kamakhya, is one of the oldest temples in Guwahati, which is visited by thousands of devotees throughout the year.
Located in the Nilachal Hills, the temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas.
It is popular for the Ambubachi Festival held in June, and places to visit in India , when the temple remains closed for three to four days. It is believed that the goddess menstruated at this time.

Umananda Temple
The famous Umananda Temple is located on Peacock Island on top of a hill called Bhasmakala and is surrounded by the Brahmaputra River and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The original temple was built in 1694 AD by King Gadadhar Singha. However, the current temple was rebuilt by a local merchant.
The temple, made by Assamese workers, has 10 other Hindu deities in addition to Lord Shiva.
